DBZ Dokkan: Majin Vegeta Makes His Return

We finally have the details for the Saiyan Day Majin Vegeta on both Global and JP, after his arrival was leaked a few days ago.

For starters, that Leader Skill is massive: Ki + 3 and full 170% to stats for all “Vegeta Family” and “Majin Buu Saga“, +30% to “Gifted Warriors” also. It’s nice to see that the 200% Leader Skill meta introduced in the 7 Year Anniversary is something Dokkan is trying to implement as quickly as they can across the game. This lead covers a HUGE chunk of units for the broad 170%, which is still nice to have, and there are some REALLY powerful Vegeta and Kid Trunks units who benefit from the full 200% buff.

His Super Attack, the “Final Impact”, Raises ATK & DEF by 30% for 1 turn, and causes immense damage to the enemy. That buff automatically makes him better in slots 2 or 3, but I don’t think that will matter a whole lot when considering running him in slot 1.

Now, let’s break down that novel of a passive:

  • Activates Entrance Animation (once only) and reduces damage received by 30% for the rest of battle when there is an ally whose name includes “Trunks” on the team at the start of turn.
    • Thank the lord it’s just any Trunks and not specifically Kid Trunks. The animation is incredible, and the effect is almost even better. 30% damage reduction can be very powerful in the right hands.
  • ATK & DEF + 180%.
  • Plus an additional ATK & DEF + 50% when performing a Super Attack.
    • A solid extra buff that will shoot his damage through the moon with support and make him untouchable after he supers, if he wasn’t already.
  • Plus an additional DEF +50% with 3 or more Ki Spheres obtained and reduces damage received by 20% with 6 or more obtained.
    • If you get this in addition to the intro animation, good luck taking damage. “Vegeta Family” has some pretty good orb changers, so this could be relatively easy to get if you’re careful. 6 may be steep for damage reduction, but 3 for the extra 50% defense is cake. Both effects should activate as soon as you get them, making him stronger in slot 1.
  • Plus an additional ATK +88% and randomly changes Ki Spheres of a certain Type (INT excluded) to INT when HP is 88% or less.
    • Personally I think I would have preferred some ki and support for the rotation, but the HP restriction is quite high, so in the hardest events this shouldn’t be too big of an issue. But, with how much of a wall this unit is, you could be hard pressed to take any damage at all with two of him running around.

If that wasn’t enough, this man also has an active skill:

Final Explosion: Can be activated after this character receives an attack 6 times or more in battle (once only).

  • Performs critical hits within the turn in which the Active Skill is activated, greatly raises ATK temporarily, causes mega-colossal damage to all enemies and stuns them for 1 turn while sacrificing 18% HP.

While the animations are unbelievable, I wouldn’t say the active skill makes or breaks this unit. It’s nice to get those crits off for the turn, and the AOE stun could be useful in Super Battle Road, if you get attacks piled up on you in turn 1. The HP sacrifice is steep, but will knock you below that 88% threshold to activate his entire passive. Stacking the guaranteed crit on top of the extra damage, means this guy is going to blow whatever he sees off the damn field. Without a doubt, all things considered, this guy’s currently the best unit on Global, and will surely stack up to some of the best units in the game on the JP side.

Vegeta’s links are: Saiyan Warrior Race, Super Saiyan, Royal Lineage, Saiyan Pride, Over in a Flash, Supreme Power, and Fierce Battle.

His categories are: Majin Buu Saga, Vegeta’s Family, Gifted Warriors, Resurrected Warriors, Pure Saiyans, Worthy Rivals, Super Saiyan 2, Corroded Body and Mind. (He is missing a few on global, such as Beyond Super Saiyan, Final Trump Card, Connected Hope, and All Out Struggle.)

Releasing along side Vegeta is the banner unit, Super Saiyan Kid Trunks and Goten:

Their Lead is inconsequential, but I guess technically if you pull these guys and not Vegeta, you could shoot for some sort of hybrid 200% team with a friend Vegeta.

Like Vegeta, these guys get a 30% 1 turn ATK & DEF raise on their super, “Victory Strike,” doing supreme damage. And also like Vegeta, their passive is a novel:

  • ATK & DEF +150%.
  • Plus an additional DEF +50% and high chance of evading enemy’s attack (including super) as the first attacker in the turn.
    • I get the intent: run these guys in slot 1 to dodge, linked with Vegeta in slot two, who gets better when attacking. Personally, I would rather them dodge everywhere, but a high chance is still VERY good.
  • High chance of launching an additional Super Attack as the 2nd or 3rd attacker in a turn.
    • Where they lose dodge, they gain additional defense in those other slots. Vegeta will be good enough in slot 1, so if you want some extra offense, this is where this unit will shine.
  • Plus an additional ATK & DEF +10% (up to 50%) with each attack performed.
  • Plus an additional ATK and DEF +10% (up to 50%) with each attack evaded (including Super Attack).
    • Both of those additions are nice. You’re not missing out on those extra buffs no matter where you run them, and they’re designed to get more of each buff in those specific situations. Building both of these up all the way will take a lifetime, but if you manage it in long events, these guys will be insane.
  • Ki +2 plus an additional ATK & DEF +50% when there is an ally whose name includes “Vegeta” (excluding Kid, JR, etc) on the team, and medium chance of performing a critical hit if that ally is attacking in the same turn.
    • Hoo boy. Considering you can get this quite easily on all of their relevant teams (yes, even Hybrid Saiyans under both INT Future Gohan and TEQ Gohan’s other leader buffs), this is a pretty good condition.

Overall, these two are preposterous. With a Vegeta on the team, they start at an extra 2 Ki and 200% to ATK and DEF. They raise on super, can do multiple in a turn in the back end, and can dodge off the rip, all while building up. You could argue they should be supporting, but I think they’re good enough to warrant none in this case.

Their links are: The Innocents, Super Saiyan, Prodigies, Budding Warrior, Saiyan Lineage, Shocking Speed, and Fierce Battle.

Their categories are: Gifted Warriors, Hybrid Saiyans, Majin Buu Saga, Joined Forces, Youth, Super Saiyans, and Bond of Friendship.

Both units should be releasing on March 18th, otherwise known as “Saiyan Day” for the Japanese pronunciation of the word “Saiyan” being roughly similar to that of “three-one-eight”.
