UNC Stinks + The Masters Is Back

It’s been a while! Been doing some traveling, and have been tired as hell lately. But the show must go on.

Remember the March Madness tournament finale? The one where UNC had a 15 point lead at halftime and then lost? The same UNC who beat Duke and celebrated like they solved world hunger? Good times. But allow me to not be a hater, and instead congratulate the JayHawks on a job well done. They were the best team in the tournament after all, and deserved to be champions.

As for our picks, the Gambler’s Anon as a group cooled off significantly. Let’s see how we did in the championship:

  • Pete: KU -4 (L)
  • Chase: KU -9.5 alt (L)
  • Frye: KU -4 (L)
  • Bates: Manek O2.5 threes (W)
  • Brad: UNC ML (L)
  • Derek: x
  • Tuna: KU -5.5 alt (L)
  • Sam: x
  • Rolly: UNC +4.5 (W)
  • Parker: U152 (W)
  • Mike: KU first half -2 (L)

An overall 3-6 showing in the finale – not great. This brings our tourny total to 34-36. We were SO CLOSE to being positive. I have zero clue on what units would look like, but we hit a healthy amount of underdog moneylines, so who knows. This was such a fantastic year for men’s hoops, and UNC losing was a nice little cherry on top.

But we’re not done yet folks, because The Masters is back.

I personally do not keep up step by step with the golf happenings. I loosely follow, and enjoy what I do see. The Masters is one of the only weekends I’ll intentionally watch as much as I can. Full of traditions unlike any other, it’s hard not to get just a little horny for golf when the time comes.

Last year we saw the first ever Japanese winner in Hideki Matsuyama. This year we have the return of Tiger Woods – while I’m not so sure he’ll win or even make the cut, the excitement around his return from his horrible car crash is still huge. As a Tiger fanboy, it’s just great to see him in Augusta doing anything at all, and a miracle he’s swinging the club.

Oh, you thought we didn’t have picks? I laugh at you. Let’s have a look:

  • Pete: Dustin Johnson Group B winner +335
  • Chase: Jordan Spieth Top 10 +180
  • Frye: Tiger Woods (just Tiger Woods. Given by Bob Huggins)
  • Bates: Justin Thomas Top 10 +130
  • Tuna: Hole in One on Hole 4 +4000
  • Mike: Kevin Kisner to Win 100:1, Tiger Woods Top 20 +150

Not as many picks this time around, but some good ones in here. Some of these top 10 plays for plus money feel like stealing. And of course I had to give Dustin Johnson, the former Coastal Carolina Chant. Member Frye received his pick from Coach Bob Huggins of all people, so maybe Tiger will have some juice this weekend after all.

Make sure to catch the live feed if you can. Hit ’em straight boys.
