Last night, you might have seen the great Will Smith walk onto the stage at the Oscar’s and smoke Chris Rock in the face shortly after Rock made a joke at the expense of Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. Or, you’re like me and fell asleep, and caught up on the tidal wave of memes in the morning.
Now listen. There’s enough jokes going around, enough drama tying in Jada’s “entanglement” with rapper August Alsina. I’m not going to comment on a man’s decision to stand up for his wife, even if he maybe could have been a little more subtle about it – but you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess. There are various reasons why the joke was so upsetting to Will, and again, I’m not here to give my opinion of right and wrong in the situation.
